About Me

Hello, my name's Kerry Lummus.  I'm a Virtual Assistant (VA) and I live between Newark and Lincoln on the Nottinghamshire-Lincolnshire border.   

After having worked for 13 years as a PA at partner-level in a firm of Lincoln-based chartered surveyors, I 'took the plunge' in 2016 and became a Virtual PA. What an experience it's been!  It gives me great pleasure to make a real difference to someone's day.  Having previously worked in customer service roles I appreciate how valuable a good ambassador for your company can be.

Admin forms a vital part of any business, done well it 'keeps the wheels turning.'  However, it doesn't bring in the money.

That's why my clients stick to what they're good at and make use of my bespoke Virtual Assistant admin services to give them a helping hand when they need it.

I'm registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and hold professional indemnity insurance. I also have an IT support agreement with a Microsoft partner, who check my systems quarterly to make sure my systems are encrypted, data is secured and backed up, and that my anti-virus is all tickety-boo! I am secretary of Lincoln Business Club and, outside of work, I am also the secretary of Collingham and District Cricket Club.  Photography is my new passion.  I'm trying to learn - the main thing I'm learning is 'practice, practice, practice!'

My Services

Working as a Virtual Assistant (VA) out of my dedicated home office, KL Secretarial Services offer a bespoke range of virtual admin services.   I can also work on a freelance basis from a client's premises where better suited. This might be to provide reception cover or I can conduct accompanied viewings of commercial and residential properties, drawing on previous experience in this sector.  

Whether working remotely or on-site, you have the flexibility of utilising my time as little or as often needed. As the success of my business very much depends on the calibre of service I provide to my clients, you can be assured of my best attention at all times and that I have the utmost respect for client confidentiality.  In addition to being registered with the ICO , I am happy to enter into a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) where applicable; please feel free to discuss your requirement with me.

I offer an initial one-hour consultation, without obligation and free of charge, during which we can discuss your specific requirements.  All work is carried out in accordance with my Virtual Assistant Agreement and Terms of Business, which can be discussed during this meeting.

Transcription Services

Be it the typing of letters, quotes or invoices or the transcription of audio files such as reports, I can get these back to you within an agreed deadline. Larger files can be transferred by means of a file sharing application such as Dropbox.  I can also send out mailshots using mailmerge or electronically via Mailchimp.  Alternatively, I can edit and format existing documents for you.

Data Entry

Ensure your databases and CRM systems are up to date and continually maintained. Not necessarily productive use of your time; I can enter the data whilst you look after your client work.

Along with a keen eye for detail, I have a BA (Hons) degree in Modern European Studies, majoring in German.  Language therefore fascinates me.  I'm often amazed at how many businesses have mistakes in their literature, blogs and signage, yet we all know the adage "you don't get a second chance to create a first impression."  I'm currently studying for a diploma to formalise my 'eagle eye.'

Diary & Email Management

I can help structure your inbox for you with folders and labels. I offer a 'gatekeeping' service, sending holding emails where appropriate and highlighting any which require urgent attention. I can schedule time in your diary to deal with these or add them to your 'to do' list, all within agreed parameters. I can also schedule meetings, book the room and help ensure you arrive fully prepared with all the correct documents to hand.

Electronic Filing

Let me work with you to find electronic and manual filing solutions to suit your needs.  Filing is never considered high priority until you can't find that all important piece of information.  It's crucial, and a good filing system can be so time-saving.

Whether you need a stand-in 'meet and greet' service or you're a small business owner who'd like some phone cover during holidays or whilst on appointments, I'm happy to discuss.  A professional first point of contact pays dividends.

It might be a case of sourcing office equipment or stationery, competitor research or information for a specific project - whatever your needs, I can do the legwork for you and report back.

Lifestyle Management

Lifestyle Management (or, as I like to call it, 'life admin') can mean more time in front of a computer after a hard day at work.

I can help with household tasks such as sourcing utility suppliers, travel arrangements, online ordering, organising cards and gifts (and reminding you of those all-important dates!)

It might also include planning a child's party or a weekend away. I can do the research, leaving you to relax and enjoy the occasion.

Accompanied Viewings

Drawing on my years of experience in the property industry, I carry out accompanied viewings of residential and commercial properties at designated times. I capture comprehensive feedback and I'm happy to pass this either to your office or your client, whichever is your preference.  I also ensure that full records are held including contact information and details of the requirement.  I'm covered under my own professional indemnity, public liability and car insurances for this type of work.


My charging structure is very simple:

By the Hour You only pay for the hours I work, so this is the most flexible model.  I track my time using an online application and round it up or down to the nearest 15 minutes, allowing you to see where the time has been spent. The minimum charge is one hour.

Retainer basis Depending on the nature and volume of the work it may be best to retain a certain amount of hours each month. You can therefore guarantee my time.

This is the most cost-effective solution and often the most popular.  It is for people who need ongoing support and helps me gain an in-depth understanding of your business, which in turn allows me to help you stay focused on achieving your goals.

By the Project Sometimes it's easier to set a fixed price for a particular task. An initial quote is given based on the scope of the project but can be subject to revision if the parameters of the project later change.

In any case, my charging rate depends on the volume and nature of the work involved and whether working virtually or on-site. Please contact me to find out what best suits your needs.
